Frequently Asked Questions:

Where do we dance? We currently dance in the Seattle Center House, one of the main buildings in Seattle Center. It houses the food court and is located near the Space Needle. We dance on the fourth floor. Enter the hallway in the back of the building and take the elevator to the 4th floor. As you exit the elevator, locate the bulletin board across the hall. The daily room schedule and a map of where the rooms are located will be posted there. Find Emerald City Cloggers on the list and proceed to that room. If you are unfamiliar with Seattle Center, here is a map of the building location. Click on the green marker for driving directions.

When do we dance? We clog dance on Tuesday evenings from 5 – 8pm. Our lessons page has the most up to date information regarding times and lesson schedules.

What about parking? Several parking garages are located around Seattle Center in addition to metered street parking. Street parking is the least expensive at $1.50 per hour and free after 6:00pm but it’s quite limited. The garages are the easiest for parking but cost more than street parking. Here is a map of the closest parking and the building where we dance. Click on any of the noted parking locations to get a general idea of cost. Because of the various events in or around Seattle Center, we recommend you allow extra time to maneuver traffic, find parking, and for walking to the room.

How do I learn to clog? You have come to the right place! We teach clogging lessons for beginner on up to low-advanced clogging levels. Because clogging is a learned art, we recommend that you check our lessons page regarding beginner lessons if you’ve never clogged before. If we are in the middle of a session, we encourage you to let us know of your interest so we can alert you as a new beginner session starts.

I’ve clogged with groups in the past; can I come on any night Emerald City Cloggers meets? Yes, we welcome experienced cloggers at any time. Of course anyone is welcome to come and watch if they would like to see that fun clogging in action! In case we have a last minute schedule change, we ask that you let us know ahead of time that you are coming by sending an email or by completing our clogging interest form.

What shoes and attire should I wear? You may be wondering what to wear? Your clothing should be comfortable since we do quite a bit of moving while clogging. Shoes should be your most important consideration. We recommend a comfortable shoe preferably with a smooth sole and little or no heel. Smooth soled dress shoes or penny loafers work well. You can wear any shoe type to begin with but some are harder to clog in. The most difficult being heavy boots, crepe or rubber soled shoes, and tennis shoes. Although part of the clogging is the sounds we make with our shoes, it's not necessary to invest in actual clogging shoes right away. We will talk more about clogging shoes during the first session of the class.

Should I bring water to drink? Feel free to bring bottled water if you like. Drinking fountains are available but they can be a bit of a walk from where we dance.

What do we charge? Our main goal is getting both people interested in clogging and providing a venue for those that already know how to clog. We don’t charge for our lessons; however, we suggest a donation of $3 - $5 per week attended to help cover the cost of room rental, equipment, etc.
